Rev. Jay Gamelin is a husband, father, pastor, musician, writer, and nationally acclaimed speaker. Jay is a gifted storyteller, an engaging leader, a humorist, and energetic presence with an unusual ability to describe the complexity of God and the walk of the disciple in simple, down-to-earth teaching. Jay currently serves on the pastoral team as Lead Servant for Engagement at Abiding Hope Lutheran Church in Littleton, CO.
Aisea Lupeheke Taimani is a Tongan Creative Artist & Psalmist, born and raised out of Newark, CA by parents & pastors Vaka & Neomai Taimani. He is the brother of Teolosia, Barry, Vaka Jr. & Toakase. He is also Uncle to 6 nieces & 1 nephew. As a pastors son, Aisea grew up serving alongside his family at the First Tongan Assembly of God Church in San Carlos, where his mother and father still serve at. Over the past 20 years, Aisea has spent his life focusing on serving youth and congregations as a creative psalmist; speaking, performing and teaching both internationally and nationally. Aisea participated as a worship leader at MYLE (Multicultural Youth Leadership Event) in Houston, an event that prefaces the ELCA Youth Gathering, and has assisted in music leadership at MYLA (Multicultural Youth Leadership Academy). We’re excited to welcome Aisea back to the Great Lakes Gathering this year to deepen our worship experiences!
Nickel and the Spare Change is evidence of the leadership development we strive to achieve. The group is composed primarily of young adults who have been Great Lakes Gathering participants and have also served as summer staff with Living Water Ministries. The band is led by Living Water Ministries Program Innovator, Nicole McCarthy (the Nickel). Each member of Nickel and the Spare Change is passionate about connecting with God through music and excited to help lead worship at the Great Lakes Gathering in 2020!
